Band name:どろろ (dororo)
Vocals: Shati Guitar: Kirihito Bass: 迷:La Ex-Member: Vocals: Hisaki Formed: 1999 Status: Disbanded in 2002 Profile: Originally formed by two ex-members of Trance Art Lizard, Yoshimi (he changed his name to Kirihito) and MeiLa (ex. Art Marju Duchain, later changed his name to Chihime, then Janome and finally, Peggy) and vocalist HISAKI, Dororo originally played music inspired by Japanese horror. With this line-up they released 5 demos; "Untitled" in May 1999, "Fukou no Tegami" in August 1999, "Nemureru Hitsugi no Naka no Shoujo Keikaku" and "Isho" in 1999 and "Akai Kutsu no Shoujo Renzoku Yuukai Jiken" in March 2000. Following this, HISAKI left the band, eventually becoming a member of Beronika Betty and then HERESY, and was replaced by Shati. After Shati joined, the band changed somewhat, with songs that were a little heavier and more influenced by Western horror and Halloween and there was also a circus-y feel to some of their songs. They released 3 more demos; "Hibaihin" in June 2001, "Antithesis" in March 2002 and "Shoutaijou" in September 2002. Kirihito then decided to leave the band, and he went on to join lab. This left Peggy as the only remaining original member of Dororo. Due to this, Peggy and Shati formed a new band called The Candy Spooky Theater, and Shati renamed himself Jack Spooky. TCST songs such as "Bordeaux After Midnight" (only the lyrics from this song were kept), "Devilish Kidnapper", "Nejimaki Denki Isu" and "Nemureru Mori no Hanayome" (only the lyrics from this song were kept) were in fact originally Dororo songs. Review: I like Dororo a lot, especially the songs they did with Shati (though I may be biased as I like TCST...a lot). HISAKI’s voice is quite high and soft sounding, a little like Pietoro from Da’vid Shito:aL, and the music sounds quite "typical" VK-ish, but it -is- good. Shati generally has a slightly deeper voice, though he does do some crazy sounding higher ones (if you’ve heard TCST, you'll know what I mean), shouts on some songs and just sings some in his distinctive and strange way. The one thing I notice about Dororo, in comparison with TCST, is that they used to make the guitar parts louder and have more of them. Both ways work though, and I’d definitely recommend Dororo to anyone who likes TCST, Halloween/circus sounding music or lyrics influenced by horror.
