Both of these releases were limited to 300 copies, with "love+infection" having 2 versions, "typeα" and "typeβ". 2000 and 2001 were busy for the band. They released their “kubitsuri usagi no isho”VHS through Pretty House in 2000 and in 2001 played lives with bands such as ANTI-KRANKE, Art Marju Duchain, Dororo and Die+Vice at various live houses. They released their single “Alice”, which had two versions, the Tea Party and Cross versions, both of which were limited to 1000 copies each, in April 2000 and the song “Screen” was also featured on an omnibus CD called “FUTURE INVASION DREAM I” They brought out their first album, “neuro subculture” in July 2001, which was limited to 2000 copies. October of that year also saw the release of their first maxi single, "kuro neko to boku", that was distributed at a live at Takadanobaba AREA. Nasty re-named himself Motoki, Captain Junn became just Junn and Y.A.C. left the band. He was later replaced by support bassist Peggy of The Candy Spooky Theater. The band again concentrated on performing in 2002 and 2003, playing lives with bands such as FAUST, DUMMY CHILDREN, emmuree, Schwarz Stein, merry go round and Deshabillz. In addition to this, Motoki also had his café bar, “Kuro Neko” to run. They also appeared on the Kireek (a band consisting of members of Sophia that had different guest musicians on each single) single “Velvet World is Mine” as part of “Kireek#2 ~JAM”. In 2004 Motoki, Jun and Peggy formed a session band, called Kurogumi, with Sowa, Sisen, Jack Spooky (The Candy Spooky Theater) and Tak (Calmando Qual). The band performed at a few lives, at which they covered songs by other artists, but never released anything together. 2nd effect continued performing in 2005 and 2006 and took part in the ID-JAPAN sponsored Halloween event organized by Kamijo and Kisaki in October 2006. Tak (Calmando Qual) has joined as support guitarist and Junn and Tak are also in a band called マァマァサ・ムゥ(Maamaasa Muu) together. They have continued to play lives during 2007, including some with bands such as Destruct System, Neurotic Doll and Agent Murder. Discography: 99/2/23 – PSYCHOMANTICE (demo tape) 99/6/3 – love+infection (demo tape) 01/10/6 – kuro neko to boku (maxi single) 00/4/23 – Alice (album) 01/7/21 – neuro subculture (album) 00/12/21‘スクリーン’ (screen) on the compilation CD FUTURE INVASION DREAM I Review I really love the combination of melodic singing, fast beats and then sometimes slightly harsher vocals they use in some of their songs. I am a big fan of Matoki’s voice, but probably people will either really like it or not like it at all. It switches between quite high and soft and girly and more loud and aggressive. I also like the variety of songs they have. For example, "Kamikaze" and "Door" are pretty fast and loud whereas "Aqua + Breath" is slower, softer and very acoustic. They even have a sample from a Dinsney film on one of their songs ("When You Wish Upon a Star" is sampled on the beginning of [hoshi ni negai wo...]). |
